Our Story

How we met

A chance introduction

It started with a mutual friend's dinner party that neither of us really wanted to attend, and ended with three hours of conversation neither of us wanted to end.

Early days, Loch Ard Gorge
Early days, Cookie Monster, Melbourne
The early days

Adventures, big and small

From road trips along the Great Ocean Road to running into a very hungry blue friend in Melbourne. The trips, the traditions, the chaos.

The proposal

He asked, on the beach, with Charlie

Right there on the sand, with Charlie as the only witness until everyone else found out. A moment we'll treasure forever.

16–17 December 2026

Now, Goa

And now, we can't wait to celebrate with the people who mean the most to us, on the beach, under the stars, with far too much food and dancing. Thank you for being part of the story.

Dress Code Planner

This is more of a guide for each event, you're not obliged to follow it exactly, so please wear whatever feels comfortable.

Travel

Caravela Beach Resort, Varca

🏛️

The Venue

Caravela Beach Resort sits on a stretch of white sand along Varca Beach, a lush tropical paradise where vaulted domes and Gothic arches echo Goa's Portuguese heritage, framed by palm groves and lily-covered lagoons.

Airplane

Getting Here

We recommend flying into Dabolim Airport (GOI), South Goa, roughly 30–45 minutes from the resort. Most domestic routes connect through Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa is also an option if it suits your route, but it is approximately 2 hours from the resort and not recommended for this trip.

Suitcase

Your Stay

We're very excited to host you at Caravela Beach Resort for 16–18 December. Our hospitality team will be in touch closer to the date with your check-in information.

Taxi

Airport Transfers

We have arranged transfers between Dabolim Airport and the resort. Our hospitality team will reach out to collect your flight arrival and departure times so your transport is ready and waiting.

Auto-rickshaw and scooter

Getting Around in Goa

Goa does not have Uber and other common ride share apps. If you wish to travel locally, we recommend using Goa Miles or booking your travel through the hotel's travel concierge or the hospitality team.

Beach chair and umbrella

Extend Your Stay

If you can stay on a few extra days, South Goa has plenty worth seeing: the beaches at Palolem and Agonda, the UNESCO churches of Old Goa including the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a spice plantation tour, Dudhsagar Falls, and the Saturday Night Market at Arpora.

What Each Ritual Means

🥁

Sehrabandi & Baraat

The groom's ceremonial send-off: a "sehra" (veil of flowers) is tied on him before he processes to the mandap with a joyful, dancing entourage of family and friends.

Jaimala garlands

Jaimala

The bride and groom exchange garlands as a symbol of acceptance and welcome, often the first "official" moment of the ceremony, and a favourite photo opportunity.

Sangeet

A night of music and dancing, with group dance performances from family and friends as we celebrate together before the wedding.

Pheras around the sacred fire

Pheras

The couple takes seven rounds around a sacred fire, each one representing a vow: for nourishment, strength, prosperity, happiness, family, companionship, and lifelong friendship.

🌿

Haldi

A turmeric paste is playfully applied to the bride and groom by family and friends. Turmeric is believed to bless, purify, and bring a natural glow before the wedding. Expect a lot of yellow and a lot of laughter.

🐚

Roce

A Goan Catholic tradition. Coconut milk is gently blessed and applied to the couple by their families, symbolising purity and good fortune, often paired with music and dancing.

FAQ

Mid-December is peak season in Goa for good reason: expect warm, sunny days with highs around 32°C (90°F) and comfortably cool evenings dropping to about 21°C (70°F). Rainfall is virtually non-existent this time of year and skies stay clear, though it can get humid in the middle of the day and breezy once the sun sets by the beach, so a light layer for evening events is a good idea.
A mix of both: the Welcome Lunch and Sangeet are indoors/covered, while the Haldi, Roce, and wedding ceremony take place on open lawns and the beachfront. We'd suggest sunscreen for daytime events and comfortable flat footwear for the lawn and sand.
Yes, your stay at Caravela Beach Resort is arranged. Your room is booked for the 16th and 17th of December. Our hospitality team will reach out directly with your room and check-in details, so there's nothing you need to book.
Fly into Dabolim Airport (GOI); the resort is approximately 30–45 minutes away by road. See the Travel section for more details, and let us know your flight times so we can help with arrival plans.
Light, breathable fabrics, comfortable sandals for the lawn and sand, a light layer for breezy evenings, and swimwear, the resort's pools and beach are worth the extra day. Check the Dress Code Planner section for outfit ideas by event.
Yes. Every event will have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options on the menu. If you're Jain, vegan, or have any allergies, just let us know when you confirm your attendance and we'll make sure the catering team takes care of you.
India's currency is the rupee (INR). Cards and UPI are widely accepted at the resort and in tourist areas, but it's worth carrying some cash for smaller vendors, drivers, or tipping. For data, a local SIM or eSIM (Airtel or Jio both work well) is easy to pick up at the airport, and the resort has WiFi throughout.
Reach out through the RSVP section and our hospitality team will get back to you directly for anything travel, stay, or schedule related.
